DescriptionThe 11.2 oz. Carbon Fiber is a high strength two-by-two weave fabric woven from 6K carbon fiber strands (tow). The twill weave pattern weave creates a highly flexible fabric that conforms to contoured surfaces and compound curves while offering the aesthetic of the 2x2 twill weave pattern. This fabric is not as drapable as the 3K twill due to increased stiffness.It is an excellent fabric for lightweight applications and is most popular for use in decorative applications. Use this fabric to achieve that classic, decorative "carbon fiber" look on any project.It offers superior wet-out capability because it is sized with a coupling agent that provides a chemical bond between the carbon fiber and various resins. It is suitable for use in wet layup, vacuum bagging and resin infusion manufacturing and is compatible with polyester, vinyl-ester and epoxy resins.
This fabric features a tight weave and a cosmetically perfect 6K, 2x2 twill pattern. As a mid-weight carbon, it is twice the thickness as 3K, making it slightly stiffer and less drapable than our 3K version. It's best suited for flatter surfaces requiring less conformability. It retains the signature appearance that is highly desirable for modern composite parts in the aerospace, auto, marine, and sporting goods industries.
