Emma Watson was born in Paris, France on April 15, 1990. Watson is known around the world as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter film franchise based on the books written by JK Rowling. Her family moved to England when she was five years old. Watson first discovered an interest in performing arts at the age of 5 and during her schooling, when she demonstrated her talent and won a poetry reading competition. Watson auditioned for the role in Harry Potter in 1999 and got the part! She began filming for the first Harry Potter installment in 2000. Ten years, and six films later, Watson continues to play the role of the muggle-born wizard. She was the youngest actress to grace the covers of Teen Vogue and the U.K.’s Tatler magazine and has since appeared on covers and in magazines such as Vogue, V and Elle. She has also played some roles outside of the Wizarding World such as in BBC’s Ballet Shoes and Universal’s The Tale of Despereaux. She now attends Brown University and is studying for a Liberal Arts Degree. Watson is also working closely with People Tree as their Creative Advisor and is collaborating with the company on their Spring/Summer collection for 2011. The Guinness Book of World Records has named Watson the biggest-grossing female star of the ’00’s. Her work in the past decade has grossed $5.4 billion in global box office receipts.
