Lucario (Japanese: ルカリオ Lucario) is a Fighting/Steel-type canine-like Pokémon introduced in Generation III, but became usable in Generation IV. Lucario's name seems to be based on the mythical metal Orichalchum and oracle (note how the first syllables phonetically have "aura" in it) reversed in its Japanese transliteration. It can possibly also come from the Greek word for wolf (Lykos) lupaster, a subspecies of Canis aureus, Cairo or pharaoh due to its Egyptian appearance, or the Latin word luca
